The SoundFilament

Ultra-Detailed Audiophile Interconnect

Thicker is better? Think again. The SoundFilament interconnects have already dropped a few jaws in our demo room. Made from hair thin silver plated copper wire in a translucent sleeve and terminated with quality Swiss Neutrik®  RCA connectors, these interconnects beg to be heard. Prepare to be shocked.

PHI SoundFilament - Technical details

Screened cables have been the standard in interconnects for many years. Unfortunately stranded cable and screens easily produce a smeared sound and work-arounds are often difficult and costly. Enter the SoundFilament. Because of a recent awakening of interest in the use of twisted cable for high-end audio (a technique used to minimise noise in high speed network cable), we decided to experiment with thinner twisted cable interconnects. What twisting cables does is that it allows exactly equal amounts of noise, but of opposing polarity, to enter the cables. This noise cancels out entirely upon reaching the device receiving the signal. The strategy is called Common Mode (Noise) Rejection, or CMR, and is employed in XLO cables amongst others. Once one gets rid of the need for a screen one can easily sidestep the use of thick dielectric sleeves and produce a cable that's mostly insulated by one of the best dielectrics: air. The SoundFilament uses ultra thin pure copper wires with a silver plated exterior for a livelier sound. Very thin polyethylene insulation and an electrically benign clear polyethylene sleeve protect and insulate the strands, and high quality Neutrik plugs complete these cables.

The SoundFilament interconnects are currently priced at ZAR1120.00 per 1m pair
